Tandjung Sari derived its name from a small temple on the beach known by that name –
‘Tandjung' meaning ‘cape' in Malay and ‘Sari', which in Sanskrit, in general, means ‘the essence'. It's
literal translation being the stem of a flower. We adopted for translation: ‘ Cape of Flowers '.
A precious original Tandjung Sari hotel opened in 1962 as a four-bungalow extension to
the family home of Wija Wawo-Runtu.
The scale of Tandjung Sari has purposely been kept small and today the hotel is a 26
bungalow holiday retreat steeped in old world charm unparalleled and unrivalled by other hotels. Set
amidst lush gardens on the Sanur beachfront, overlooking the Indian Ocean , the individual bungalows have
evolved from traditional Balinese architecture, construction techniques and materials.
